The ever-reliable Grave Digger are back at it with another album. They never mess around too long between releases; you just have to respect that coming from a band that's been around so long. Bone Collector is a bit of a grower and, while I like it overall, it's a very safe album coming from these guys. There's no heavy hitter like "Hell is My Purgatory" off 2022's Symbol of Eternity, for example, with the closest being "The Devil's Serenade," which, while an instant earworm, is much more melodic and doesn't kick as much ass. I was surprised that a few songs somehow remind me of later, more melodic Motörhead; I can't help but think of Lemmy and crew when a couple of songs on this album come on—I won't name names, I'll leave it to readers to see if they get the same feeling. ;) Bone Collector is good "Grave Digger heavy metal" that overall puts more emphasis on mellower melodies than on hard, crunchy heavy metal like they've delivered on so many albums. If you've heard a good sample of the band's discography, there's nothing here you haven't heard before, but either way it's a good listen.
