This is savage and brutal, yet somewhat polished and sometimes melodic black metal. Lots of speed in the second-wave Scandinavian style, though more reminiscent of the early 2000s than the '90s. Musically it's not different from many bands in the style; not original, but it's well executed overall. It's the vocals that really caught my ear on this album, as the vocalist sounds completely out of this world with insane, demonic, beyond-the-grave vocals that certainly fit well with the band's name. On the first few listens, I thought the album was a bit monotonous, but when you pay closer attention, there's quite a bit going on here and it warrants at least a few attentive listens before passing judgment. |
