I didn't check the band's biography before listening to this album and first thought this was some remastered reissue of an '80s album. Turns out this is a young band (first demo released in 2024) and, well, like a lot of other bands these days, they went for some revival trend. That's not a criticism. Not all bands can really nail the '80s sound, but Sinner Rage certainly can. High-pitched, catchy singalong vocals, crunchy, raw heavy metal and solos that will make you snap the strings off your air guitar more than once is what you'll find on Powerstrike. All the music here is energetic and catchy, not quite commercial but accessible enough. Despite them operating in a relatively clean music genre, their sound is a little on the DIY side, by no means overpolished. It has this raw edge that makes this all sound powerful and in your face, just plain fun heavy metal. Unsurprisingly, this is on Dying Victims Productions, a label that seems unable to sign a bad band. If you can't get enough '80s metal without too much polish, check these guys out. |
