Black metal/crust with some atmospheric elements? Count me in. Sottrazione is a little different from the crowd, with some very slow, atmospheric, kind of depressing passages that stand side by side with much more violent songs that carry a similar atmosphere with a more in-your-face delivery. The vocals are agonizing and often stand out so much that you can almost forget that there's music coming out of the speakers, though not because the vocals are too upfront; the vocalist happens to have a distinctive and strong style that is bound to grab your attention. Some songs are more melodic with a more rocking vibe, but still delivered with a good dose of aural violence. Yet another album that benefits from multiple listens and makes you want to check out the band's other releases. |
