This one-man act already released two full-lengths in a previous existence as Sorrow Plagues, but now is renamed Corroding Soul to carry forth with essentially the same sound. Sole band member David Lovejoy is obviously foremost a guitar player, as the riffs and leads get a lot more attention than any other element. The playing is good, and the recording does a good job of layering the sounds, even if a good number of the melodies are too happy for my taste. This creates atmosphere, and it makes for good background music, but it's not strong enough to really hold your attention. |
