Short debut EP for Where the Light Fades, who offer us a mix of black, death and doom on these three songs. As one might expect from the band's name, this is rather melancholic, but the band also knows how to blast and rock the house with some more black metal moments that are rooted in the second wave. There's a hint of melodic death metal here, kind of subtle but it's there—blackened melodic death metal with more punch than the average melodeath. Despite the melancholic atmosphere, there's also a more evil and brutal vibe popping up here and there, and the raspy vocals adapt to whatever the music calls for. Too bad this isn't longer, but I guess a full-length album cannot be too far off. |
