Review

I had relatively low expectations for this one because I remembered being very excited about the announcement of The Ones I Condemn back in 2009, and it initially turned out to be somewhat of a let down, and it only grew on me many, many years later. Well, if I had had high expectations for Volume Six, they would have been met—or even exceeded—as this album is one fine slab of raging thrash that checks all the boxes.

I recently said of the latest Hirax album, Faster than Death, that sometimes the old thrash bands can still show the kids how it's done, and that's also true of what Sacrifice have done here. The vocals are aggressive as fuck (and decipherable enough), the music is pretty much fast paced from beginning to end and once it's over you'll have that sweet feeling of having been run over by a train. This is very much old school and overall pretty raw, with crazy riffage and some solos that will make your fingers hurt from playing your air guitar. I like how the drums are not left aside in favour of the guitars, and I often found myself playing the air drums, something I don't do often. I just hope I didn't subconsciously do that while taking a walk listening to the album. hehe... Lots of machine-gunning, rampaging passages throughout, the album is wall-to-wall thrashing madness and no doubt many of these songs will become live favourites. The overall vibe is dark and aggressive, in line with what one would expect from the band's name, though closer "Trapped in a World," while dark, is a bit more easy-going and borderline party thrash. It's very early in the year, but this should be up there in the list of best thrash albums of the year unless the kids or other older bands are up to the challenge. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm due for another aural assault.
