This is a fun album. Malamorte offer some crunchy, horror-like heavy metal with a thrashy and even a hint of a blackened edge on Abisso. The vocals are especially distinctive, sometimes sounding like King Diamond, other times more like a high-pitched nasal voice that is guaranteed to stick in your head right away. The overall storytelling vibe is certainly akin to that of many King Diamond albums—not a bad thing considering the last King Diamond album was nearly 20 years ago. This is more raw musically and a little heavier, but there are a lot of similarities. Throw in some organs, and a bit of theatrics to further that feeling that you're listening to a horror story. Nicely done. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
