This is one of those albums that sounds like what you'd expect from looking at the artwork. Finland's Morbific play it about as old school as it gets when it comes to their death metal. Bloom of the Abnormal Flesh is filled with muddy, putrid, hellish death metal with a malevolent atmosphere to boot. At times it sounds like when that freight train that runs not far from my place is rolling slowly and loudly, a deep, loud rumbling sound that spells h-e-a-v-y. The growls are top-notch, a disgusting yet addictive style that still resonated in my ears long after the album was over. The drums can get clickety more often than not; I'm not sure whether it's the promo or if it's like that, but it can get a little distracting, though it doesn't take much away from the enjoyment of this nice little slab of putrid old-school death metal.
