As far as I'm concerned, Dying Victims Productions does very little wrong in terms of their releases, and Powerstrike from Spain's Sinner Rage is another excellent addition to the label's roster. The band plays heavy metal like it is still the early '80s and they are in the middle of the US scene. There's a bit of hard rock to their songwriting but that doesn't tamp down the riffs, leads or soaring vocal lines, it simply makes them more infectious. There are uplifting anthems like "Fire's On" and "Silent Thunder" that move along briskly but don't stray into power metal as well as slower, chugging tracks like "Dangerous Attraction" and "Chained by Night" and Sinner Rage deliver them all directly into your brain with amps turned up to 10. Each time I listen to Powerstrike, I'm reminded of classic releases like Malice's License to Kill and Riot's Thundersteel so, needless to say, that prompted a lot of listens. If kick ass, US-styled heavy metal appeals to you, get on the Sinner Rage bandwagon and grab a copy of Powerstrike. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
