This one is a bit of a grower. Bark plays a strange mix of thrash, death and heavy metal with a hint of punk and a hell of a lot of groove, with shouted vocals that are a bit of an acquired taste, with the groove and vocal combination sometimes reminding me of some nu-metal, albeit the least annoying stuff from the better-forgotten genre. It's heavy, it's loud, it comes off sounding somewhat simple largely due to the predominant "groove metal," but it's also kind of infectious thanks to a very catchy vibe throughout. It's not really something I'd have an urge to put on any day of the week, but it's good enough that I wouldn't feel the need to turn it off when it's on either. If you like your metal groovy, this is certainly worth checking out. |
