I remember enjoying this band's last album Shock to the System, but it kind of went down a memory hole, and I didn't remember it until I got this one. Tower still play that stripped-down, hard-edged classic metal with muscular riffing and frontwoman Sarabeth Linden wailing away. There's no gimmick to this kind of thing, you just have to kick ass, and Tower do that. This time out, they wield a lot more atmosphere than last time, and the album has a more arcane feel to my ears. Some compare this band to Chastain or Warlock, though I find them less anthemic than that. What they really make me think of is Savage Master if that band took the gloves off and really went for it. Occult, and thick with mood, but still a clean-limbed attack of killer, old-fashioned Heavy Metal. This band is too good to miss. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
