This band has been putting out albums for like 27 years and yet I had never heard of them until Michel gave this album a stellar review, and so I thought I better check it out, and it does indeed fucking kill. This is big, ambitious, moody Black Metal in the same style as bands like Blut Aus Nord, Lunar Aurora, or Sear Bliss—the songs are long and complex without being overloaded, the sound is gripping and intense, with a lot of heavy crushing leavened by keys to provide space and atmosphere. The songwriting is intricate in the way that you discover something new every time you listen to it. I will have to chase down some of the other ten fucking albums by this outfit that I somehow missed. Prime shit.
