Helljjin Combat is the second album from Sijjin and is a straight-up slab of thrashy death metal. It doesn't have the same level of Middle Eastern influence as its predecessor, which is a bit of a letdown as I enjoyed that aspect of Sumerian Promises, but I cannot argue with the killer thrash riffing Sijjin has unleashed on this new one. Sawing riffs, punishing breakdowns, and squealing solos are wrapped up in catchy songwriting with decipherable vocals all sure to get heads banging. I can't say any one song has stood out from the rest and really grabbed me, but there isn't a single song on Helljjin Combat I want to skip. It's a neck-breaking thrash assault that doesn't break any molds but does what it does so well, that doesn't really matter. See below for more reviews and interviews... ↓ |
