Since 2009 Bright Ophidia have released an album every eight years and it's absolutely not a problem. Let them cook, even if it's done so slow. I'm not a big fan of progressive metal, but I'm a fan of actual riffs and general musicianship instead of pointless wankery. Bright Ophidia managed to prepare a progressive metal record that does not make me grind my teeth and that's an enormous advantage. I actually enjoyed every little session with this album. Well, the folk themes from the first song (and from the outro) are not a good fit in my humble opinion, but the rest of this record is pretty good, and it was fun to discover all the surprises it has to offer. It can be a little exhausting to sit through the whole thing, but 3-4 or even 5 songs at a time were just fine. |
