Second-wave-style melodic black metal is what The Infernal Deceit have in store for us on The True Harmful Black. There's a certain Immortal vibe to this, both vocally and musically, though this is still quite different. The sound is powerful and heavy, and the entire album is an assault on the senses, packed wall to wall (speaker to speaker?) with a black metal backbone that also colours outside the lines with some more traditional heavy metal parts. I dare you not to stop doing whatever you're doing when the solo on "In Death I Am Eternal" kicks in. It really stands out. There's a mix of in-your-face, all-guns-blazing fast black metal and slower, heavy parts with a dark, menacing atmosphere. Overall, if you're a black metal aficionado, it's pretty much guaranteed that you've heard stuff like what can be heard on this album, but The Infernal Deceit mixed in a lot of stuff and pulled it off very nicely on this album. |
