Debut from this German band who are in the tradition of more melodic, epic Black Metal, still short of what I would call "atmospheric," though it does have a lot of atmosphere. This is derived from the sound of bands like Arckanum, Mgla, or Blut Aus Nord, with big songs, big ideas, and big, sweeping compositions. There's a bit of Cascadian sound as well in the layered tremolo riff attack, but they avoid sounding too much like any one band. This is a deep, rich album with a lot of layers and details, and it will take a lot of spins to really dig in on it. A great debut. |
