The band that kept coming to my mind while listening to Inferno Crematörio, the third album from Italy's Hellcrash, was Venom. Whether I focused in on the harsh shouting or the loose performances (probably intentional) or the direct, evil lyrics, I just kept hearing the NWOBHM legends from Newcastle. Hellcrash do a pretty good job emulating Venom's energy and vibe, minus the notorious Neat Records woeful production, and Inferno Crematörio is good fun while it is on. Why, they even throw in an "epic," the 10+ minute "Templar's Curse," in the vein of "At War with Satan" the album-side track from Venom's third record. What I don't get is anything particularly catchy or noteworthy, so while it is on, it is fine, but once it ends, the only thing I'm left with is "that's the band that sounds a lot like Venom." If the early works of Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon are your thing, you're in luck because Inferno Crematörio plays right into your hands. If you just like black/thrash, it is OK, and it might not replace current favourites but it is a solid addition to your rotation.
