This is pretty sweet. This 2-disc album contains a first disc with re-recordings of tracks from the band's 1982-1991 period, which one might argue is their best period (though some of their later stuff is nothing to sneeze at). Basically, a thrashtatic fest of early thrash delivered with modern means, but you can't take the old school out of this stuff. That disc alone is worth it; all tracks are good picks from various albums and demos and everything flows very well. But wait, there's more! The second disc contains covers of songs by bands that influenced Onslaught. You get some metal cuts like Motörhead's "Iron Fist," Judas Priest's "Freewheel Burning" and Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," but mostly old punk songs with an Onslaught twist added. These are all relatively well-known songs that you're bound to have heard at some point, and Onslaught's rendition is pretty damn cool. The album is just under 90 minutes in length, but every time I listen to it and the last song ends, I always think to myself, "already"? Just solid songs and performances throughout.
