This American/Canadian duo plays a pretty raw and minimalist form of black metal on Disenchantment. From the band name, I was expecting something more polished—not that I'm complaining, mind you. ;) Visceral, croacky and raspy vocals are everywhere on this and feel just as ear-grating as the screechy, raw guitar work. Pretty much mid to fast-paced stuff here, very much in the vein of raw black metal bands of the mid-90s. There are some melodic bits to be found here, surprisingly not clashing with the otherwise chaotic and barebones music. You've heard stuff like this before if you're into raw black metal, but it's well done, so I'm liking this. |
