This is a trio made up of two Austrians and a French-Canadian from Quebec, and the black metal here certainly lives up to the band and album names (respectively, "distress" and "pessimisms" in French). Very melancholic and melodic, the music is wrapped in a mostly sorrowful, dark atmosphere that's better suited for a gloomy rainy day. There are faster tracks that sound more like barebones, raw black metal, which caught me off guard at first but really fit well into the album as a whole and I like that this takes us off the more depressing parts for a bit. Nicely done. |
