From the first listen, I thought this was a British band, but they're really a Japanese band that sounds like a British band, especially circa the NWOBHM. This is melodic, catchy and accessible heavy metal that could also appeal to the hard rock and heavy rock crowds, maybe even just plain rock. They don't push things so far as to sound as raw as "back in the day," as this has a nice modern production and some bits and pieces have a more modern edge to them. Some nice galloping guitars, cool rocking solos, and a very clear and melodic voice make this a fun listen. They sometimes steer away from sounding too British, like on the balladesque "Fort of Sand," which wouldn't sound out of place on a Scorpions album. Pretty solid stuff through and through and a good pick when you want something melodic with a hard edge. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
