Tenebro are essentially a one-man band, or at least they spent close to 20 years as one, though now it seems there is another member. From the cover you would be right in assuming this is a band all about that classic Italian horror cinema, and the album title is both literally The Silver Blade and also a sly reference to horror filmmaker Dario Argento. The one thing I would not have expected, looking at the package, is how much ass this thing kicks. This is dense, heavy, punishing Death Metal with intense drumming and deep, gurgling vocals. The production is slick and crunchy, and the whole sound is very polished without losing the edge. I was skeptical, but this album provides a crunching, riffing good time. |
