This is a strange one, a Russian band named after the Automatic Packet Reporting System—which is a ham radio protocol for real-time digital communications about local conditions, often used in emergencies. The song titles are all radio frequencies. This is deeply melodic and melancholic Black Metal with a huge keyboard element that reminds me of bands like Evilfeast or even Dwarrowdelf, with soothing melodies and a lot of space and depth to the sound. This does not have an evil or inimical mood, and instead is almost entirely soothing and relaxing, with sparse vocals and an almost entirely instrumental soundscape. If you love gloomy, synth-heavy mood music, then this is a great pick. |
