Ill Fated Voyage is the debut album for this band out of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania by the name of Iron Brigade. Chunky traditional heavy metal with a nice, beefy guitar tone and epic lyrics in the vein of Iron Maiden is what Iron Brigade is offering here. The vocalist has a powerful voice, with a delivery and inflections not unlike Bruce Dickinson, though he's short of the legendary frontman and it sounds like his efforts push him off key on occasion. Overall, Ill Fated Voyage rocks pretty hard and the lead work is a cut or two above the crowd and with the epic streaks, you can add other east coast US bands like Twisted Tower Dire and Argus into the mix, with Maiden the clear beacon Iron Brigade navigate by. There isn't anything revolutionary about what they are doing, but if you want heavy metal that makes no apologies for being direct and to the point, give Ill Fated Voyage a try. |
