Zepter is an Austrian band throwing their hats in the traditional heavy metal ring with their self-titled, debut full-length album. They play the hard-rocking style that originated in the NWOBHM and is being kept alive today by the likes of Haunt, Screamer, Night Demon, Züül and a host of others. Zepter sound quite polished despite being a new entity (formed in 2024) and have some solid riffs, but the vocals are basic and workmanlike and don't possess the charisma to lift the songs, which are on the generic side, to the next level. These guys are pointed in the right direction to make a name for themselves in the traditional metal scene and Zepter is a good first effort, but the band will need to take things up a notch if they want to set themselves apart from the crowd. |
