It's been 12 years since I reviewed Death Dealer's debut album, War Master, and despite liking it, I lost track of them until their fourth album, Reign of Steel, dropped into my review queue. Not a lot has changed with regards to this super group's efforts, and I can't mean that in a more positive way. Sean Peck (Cage), Ross the Boss (ex-Manowar, Ross the Boss), Stu Marshall (Empires of Eden), Steve Bolognese (ex-Them) and Mike LePond (every metal band ever) collectively turn the amps up to 11 and deliver pummeling, fist-pumping, heavy fucking metal. The riffs are gold, Peck's vocals suit the music to a tee, and the band sounds great with everyone firing on all cylinders. It doesn't matter if they are careening along at top speed on "Assemble," going for a slow burn on "Raging Wild and Free" or just putting on a riff clinic with "Reign of the Night," Death Dealer deliver steaming, molten metal goodness from start to finish. There is perhaps a touch more European flavor to their US metal attack, but that in no way detracts from the whole. Grab a copy as soon as you can if the high-octane metal of Cage and Manowar, along with Judas Priest and Saxon, get your blood pumping. See below for more reviews and interviews... ↓ |
