I was surprised to see that this is a one-man act, as there's a lot going on on this album. Sung in French, more or less decipherable, the black metal here is blasting like the best of them, plowing through anything in its path for most of the album. In that respect, it's very much akin to a hell of a lot of black metal bands playing it pedal to the metal, a wall-to-wall aural assault of violent, visceral metaaal. ;) There's a bit of melody that gives the songs an identity and it's probably the most notable thing on here, along with the harsh, shouted vocals that come off almost as violent as the music. I can't say this is an album I'd reach out for out of the blue, but it's certainly good while it's on. |
