Pardon me while I clean the cheese off of my ears. I expected so damn much from this album after listening to Lordi's latest 2004 release "The Monsterican Dream". That album and this one have so much in common in terms of style and themes but yet are worlds apart in terms of musical quality. I don't know how Lordi managed to pull off such a brilliant album second time around when the first one sucked so horribly.

The music follows the basic, basic heavy metal/hard rock pattern. Dumb sound effects, intro riffs, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo (or some more sound effects), chorus, chorus. That is every song on here. Now that is not really a bad thing by itself. After all, "The Monsterican Dream" is the same thing as well. The bad thing about this album is that with two exceptions, every song on here is utterly stupid, dull and has a strong homosexual prowess to it. Now, "Get Heavy" – the title track is actually a pretty good song and I will admit I enjoy it, with its catchy riffs and chorus. "The Devil Is A Loser" has a soft spot for me too, because I don't recall ever laughing out loud like this when listening to metal. It is supposed to be a funny song, and it works really well. So no points deducted there. But after that, it doesn't do much that is praiseworthy. The riffs aren't catchy, nor innovative, the melodies aren't stomping nor memorable, and the drums are simplistic and redundant.

Stay away from this album. GWAR do the same thing much better. And Lordi do the same thing even better than GWAR on "The Monsterican Dream". Now it is GWAR's turn to out do them. This whole battle of the idiots is actually quite amusing, so add 2 points to the rating for that! ;)
