Well, here it is, the long-awaited successor to Glory To The Brave and Legacy Of Kings.  As promised, Renegade is not "Glory To The Brave - Part Three", in fact it doesn't sound much like the first two albums, although you can still tell it's Hammerfall.  Definitely not as catchy as its predecessors, this album is more of a grower, unlike the instant "fuck yeah!" generated by them.  Not necessarily a bad thing, one could argue that the songwriting is more mature, although the "hymn to metal" theme remains pretty much the same.  Ah well, let's admit it: We do like it :).  The only part of the album that I really don't like is the ballad, which is unfortunately way too melancholic for my present mood - hehehe.  As for the other songs, well, maybe not as speedy as the material on the previous albums, but certainly a little heavier.  Nine good songs out of ten, I'm certainly not complaining.

Renegade is a refreshing change considering the first two albums were practically identical in style.  Fans and newcomers alike will probably enjoy this new release, keeping in mind that you may have to let it grow on you…
