"Code Red" is usually considered the weakest release from this German warmachine. The reason for it is perhaps the fact that Sodom by now just started to do the same thing over and over again. Well then…now that can be a good thing, and bad thing. Can you guess what side I am going to take? Obviously the rating above demonstrates that it is a good thing. When Sodom changed their sound on "Better Off Dead", there was outcry about selling out. When they returned to their nasty and ferocious aggression on "Tapping The Vein" not many seemed to care much anymore. Then with stuff like "Masquerade In Blood" and "Til Death Do Us Unite" the band pretty much gave a big "fuck you" to everyone and played the simple 80's styled underground thrash metal. Once they dropped that hammer, they never let up. And "Code Red" is simply the continuation of that assault.

Granted this album does not break any new ground, nor does it unleash Sodom's primitive style to its full potential, but it does contain the minerals for a good thrash platter. There is no arguing about this…if you are a thrasher, and cannot get enough of that eighties sound and want to continue head-banging to this kind of stuff, "Code Red" might help.
