Well this is just awful. I am generally pretty well disposed towards True Metal bands, but this is an example of how NOT to do Metal. I rarely differ with Lord Requiem this severely, but I don't see how he derived any pleasure from this album at all. Wolf's Moon take a decent metal formula and turn it into an album-length festival of irritating crap. I could spend all day enumerating the things that are wrong with this album: the flat production, the bland songwriting, the dulls riffs and the terrible, off-key vocals. Stupid lyrics, awful vocal lines. On and on. "Lonely At The Gates" is the only song that has anything memorable or catchy about it. So the band earns some points for their one not-that-awful song. But the rest of this is a badly put-together mess of discordant parts of better bands. An album to listen to with the finger on the skip button. Overall Wolf's Moon come across as third-rate Sacred Steel wannabes, and if the best you can do after multiple albums is a third-rate imitation of a second-rate band, you are pretty fucking sad. Avoid. |
