Invicticus is a band from Wisconsin playing some kind of death/grindcore hybrid. I don't know if the songs on this demo are in the order they were written, but to me it seems like the last song is definitely of better quality than the first two. There are two type of vocals, one reminds me of BM screeches while the other is more of a death metal growl, quite guttural (a bit too much for my taste.) Despite the grinding guitars which I usually find monotonous, here there's still some identifiable melodies - well at least a little, not always the case in this genre of music. So instead of having three songs that sound exactly alike like I've heard so much in the past, here we have some variety. The sound quality is not bad at all for a demo.

As I'm not too much into grindcore, it's hard to compare this with other bands' work and comment on the originality of the music, but I guess I can safely say it's not bad at all in the genre. The first song on the demo doesn't do anything for me while the other two have some "cool" beats that make them a bit more memorable and therefore enjoyable to listen to. The first one is just a bit too chaotic for my taste and the vocals are a little bit too guttural on it too. Because of the genre, I wasn't expecting much from this but I'm pleasantly surprised - but not to the point of being a convert ;). Check it out if this is your kind of stuff.
