I have been a fan of this band since their last album surprised the hell out of me…you just don't picture a band kicking out some killer thrash metal with a name like Dew Scented. I was kind of eager to see if their last album was simply a fluke since I had nothing else to judge them on but after hearing this album I think it is safe to say the brilliance of their last album was no accident. The new album just continues on where the last one left off and that is damn good news if you are a fan of crushingly heavy riffs, killer leads and simply insane work behind the kit. If there is one slight difference between this album and the last it would have to be that there seems to be more speed on this album. Every now and then you can really feel a death metal vibe working its way through but never enough to overpower the overall thrash feel to the album. I really cant find anything at all wrong with the disc so you may be wondering why it didn't get a perfect rating and all I can say is if I were to give it a perfect rating then the next album from these guys would have no place to go but down and I cant bring myself to do that since I have extremely high hopes for this band. Overall another killer release and something that I certainly hope becomes a habit for these guys. A lot of people consider The Haunted to be the best new era thrash band out right now but all I can say is for anyone into this genre to give this one a listen and then tell me Dew Scented doesn't flat out kick The Haunted collective asses. Highly Recommended. |
