Awesome fucking old-school slayage here. And I mean old school. Faustcoven are a killer fucking band from Norway, and they play their Black Metal so back-to basics the "Black" in Black Metal might well stand for "Sabbath."

What Faustcoven have done is really very simple: play evil fucking Black Metal with slow, Sabbath/Candlemass riffs run through a barbaric production job that makes the guitar sound like it's sawing into your flesh – and it's a heavy saw. How a one-man band can produce anything this cool is amazing to me. No blastbeats here, no tremolo riffs, no fucking keyboards, just raw, killer riffs stacked on top of each other. If California's Ritual were doomy, they would have sounded a lot like this.

It's hard to come up with enough good shit to say about this band. It's not really original, unless the fact that this album is played as if the last 20 years of Black Metal never happened makes it sound like it. If you miss the old days of Venom or Celtic Frost, and you want that kind of 'let me hit you in the face with my riff' approach welded onto a sludgy Doom attack, then Faustcoven are too good to pass up. Awesome shit.
