This was the sixth full-length album for Suidakra, and by far one of the most awesome melodic Death Metal releases I have ever heard. I am going to have to knuckle down and get some more of their CDs, as while I thought "Lupine Essence" and "Lays From Afar" were pretty good, this just slays relentlessly.

Do you hate Gothenburger wanna-be N'FLAMEZ melodeath crap? Me too, so don't think this is anything like that shit. This is what bands like that should be trying to do, though they would fail spectacularly at it, as this is just to inventive and complex to really imitate. Suidakra start with a Melodic Death base not too far removed from stuff like Dark Tranquility, but they go with a heavy folk influence on their riffs and melodies, and then they crank everything up a notch. On this album mainman Arkadius just turned himself into a riff machine. It's incredible, and your jaw drops as riff after riff of sheer brilliance just pours out. The man is a serious shredder, and these are not just catchy, heavy-as-fuck riffs, they are tight, complex, and spiked with all those little twists and turns that a really good player can cram in. Try to air guitar along with this and you won't be able to even keep up. The vocals alternate between the expected deathgrowl, and quite good clean singing that goes very well with the folky vibe.

People who have heard this album already know it rules, but those who have put off Suidakra because of the 'melodeath' tag or because of their fruity name should just put all that aside and grab this. I simply can't imagine a metalhead not enjoying this album. Highly, highly recommended.
