Some of you might remember this band from last year when they released their debut after winning the Young Metal Gods contest along with Persuader and Beyond Surface. It was all good news for these bands when they got the Noise Records deal, but unfortunately Noise did not renew their contract. Well here they are again, with a brand new album, a new vocalist, and a new record deal.

A few changes are noticeable this time around and perhaps a few negatives along with it. For one, I really thought the previous vocalist was talented and replacing him was not necessarily the brightest idea – at least in terms of changing the sound of the band. Secondly, it appears that Dyecrest are now leaning more towards the typical power metal camp rather than the stomping heavy and crunchy power metal mixture they demonstrated on their debut. The band still throws in enough rhythm based riffs to keep me satisfied, however this is more along the lines of typical melodic power metal.

That being said, the roots of Dyecrest are still somewhat in tact and the band still delivers a good performance. With mean and catchy tracks like "Rush Of Life" or "Man Who Was Me", Dyecrest demonstrate that they are still a notch above the bulk of euro-power metal bands out there. Hopefully they get heavier with the next release, but for now, "This Is My World" has enough minerals to throw a few jabs at heavy and power metal fans.

A good album that is worth the listen.
