The pride of Italy is back, but this time it is Luca Turilli's solo effort, King Of The Nordic Twilight.  The album is a mix of Power/Epic/Symphonic metal.

A lot of people will say that this is the same as Rhapsody.  For my part, I do find some resemblances, since Luca is Rhapsody's main songwriter.  However, this album is quite different, as, unlike the Rhapsody material, it puts the emphasis on the guitars.  Fans of Power/Epic/Symphonic music will be pleased.  Unlike Rhapsody, King Of The Nordic Twilight is power metal from beginning to end, except for the ballad Princess Aurora which is kind of slow.  In addition, vocalist Olaf Hayer is, I think, the best power metal vocalist I've heard.  He sounds like Rhapsody's Fabio Lione, but he is more aggressive.

Rhapsody fans who do not know Luca Turilli must absolutely get this solo album, and for other metal fans, King Of The Nordic Twilight is a good buy as it will make you discover a new genre of metal.  Also note that this album is the first of a trilogy.
