Raw, disgusting, filthy, evil. Those words are extremely effective in describing Maniac's sound. This trio of perverts have unleashed a short, violent burst of old school metal straight from the bowels of 1983, ripping through your flesh with thrashing chaos and unhinged metallic power. Yes, the sound is basement hiss-and-rumble, the vocals are distorted and evil, and there's absolutely no lame attempt to be "innovative" anywhere in sight. In other words, this is essential listening. Neither the band nor label seem to have any website to speak of, the artwork is of the Xeroxed variety and the tape is limited to 333 numbered copies, so obviously Maniac aren't particularly interested in breaking out from the confines of the deepest underground any time soon. Well, Hails and Horns to that. This is the perfect soundtrack to your beer swilling apocalyptic nocturnal activities. |
