Tremolo guitar riffs with no bottom end? Check. Drum machine? Check. Unholy shrieking about Satan and hating everybody? Check. Cool monochrome cover art? Check. I don't hate this, and the cover photo is really very cool, but this is just such utterly generic BM that I wonder how the bandmembers (Okay, member. One-man band? Check!) can even stay awake while playing this stuff. There's nothing badly done about this CD, but it has been done SO many times before. Play midpaced riff, scream. Now double-time the drum machine while you play the same riff, scream. Go back to the midpace and play other riff, snarl. Double-time the drum machine and play other riff over it while you scream. Seriously, these songs must take about a half-hour to write, as all you need are two riffs and some tempo changes. I love Black Metal, and I can't hate a band with a name this cool completely, but too many bands like this could just kill the scene, because they all sound exactly the same. |
