Well now, this is a surprise. I put this off because I pretty much hated Benighted's last album "Insane Cephalic Production", and I wanted to avoid having to listen to this. But "Identisick" is a pleasant surprise (if anything about Death this brutal can be said to be 'pleasant').
There are about eight bands called Benighted, this is the French one, if you need to distinguish. For their fourth CD these guys have ditched a lot of the grind elements and gone right for the throat with a slamming, vicious Death Metal assault. The riffing on here is pretty damned lethal, and with less blasting and more time changes, "Identisick" is a lot of fun. The vocals are still mostly of the 'vomit' school, with some shrieking in there to break things up. I don't care for them much, but they get the job done. Benighted won't win any awards for creativity, but at least this time they managed to make an album I enjoyed listening to. If you favor the 'brutal' end of the Death Metal pool, then this should be on your list.
