Review

I have always thought this band had some serious talent and that they were headed for bigger and better things. This being album number four I can honestly say I am sick and tired of waiting and maybe just maybe this breakthrough album I thought was coming just isn't going to happen.

This is just another album from these guys that shows promise but once again simply misses the mark and falls flat. There are some changes the band has made but these are all in the wrong direction. One of the biggest (as well as annoying) changes is more trade off vocal styles from rough to clean and I swear if one more band goes this Shadows Fall route I swear I will just fucking snap. For fuck sake will someone start a trend instead of just following one…is all originality dead? That is not the only thing that is bugging me about this album however. I listen to a lot of damn music and sometimes I can't even tell you what is playing in the background while it is on but I swear I have heard this album before. I can't place where or when but I know I have. I am not saying this is flat out stealing but I get that feeling every time I listen to the disc. The really sad thing about this is I really feel bad about trashing this band because I still think the talent level here is off the charts. I just wish I would hear something from these guys that really blows me away. There are some killer riffs on this album but like always they get lost in the overall mediocrity of the album.

If you can handle the Shadows Fall approach to vocals you may very well love this album but for me that has just become annoying as hell. Add that fact along to the overall feel that I have heard this album before and I just simply can't recommend this album. Save your cash and once again I guess I will have to wait till next time.
