I actually think this is the best new band of 2000. Hailing from Sweden, Persuader plays in-your-face power/speed metal, pure and simple. Unlike many of the new power metal bands out there, they don't sound at all like a rip-off band, not sounding much like other bands I know. While I normally focus more on the guitars while listening to an album, I found myself often focusing on the drums, which are very present and very well integrated into the compositions. That takes nothing away from the guitars which are very well played and with more catchy riffs that you usually get. All songs are very fast-paced with an occasional slowdown, and there's no bad song on this album, although the title track, The Hunter, stands out as definitely the best song on the album. I don't really have words to describe it, it is just a killer song and is pretty catchy as well. You've got to hear it yourself. This album is almost 45 minutes of total headbanging. |
