Inner Spirit is a Black Metal/Ambient band hailing from Israel. The demo kicks off somewhat promisingly with "The Calm..." which has this ambient atmosphere shared by many Black Metal albums' intro, but unfortunately it does not lead to anything particularly exciting. The music is very repetitive - you'd swear it's the same drum track repeated over and over - and the guitar work is almost just as repetitive and monotonous. Save for the occasional short musical break that saves this from absolute monotony, the only thing worth mentioning are the vocals which, when they do kick in, can literally make the listener jump - call it a glimpse of hate in a sea of despair, if you will. Nothing particularly exciting here then. This is not even diverse enough to make a call on Inner Spirit's potential. I see where they wanted to go, but they haven't reached their destination yet. |
