"Inject the Ugliness" is a little EP with 4 cover songs from Deceased while we patiently await the next full length album. Side A contains covers of Agent Steel's "Agents of Steel" and Running Wild's "Iron Heads", both recorded "live in studio" (basically meaning this is a pretty raw, more or less unpolished recording ), and side B contains live covers of Venom's "Black Metal" and Voivod's "Voivod", both recorded live in Chicago in 2005.

Side A presents quite a departure from the usual clean sound that we get from the bands being covered, Deceased playing both songs raw and dirty, "thrashified" if you will, with King's harsh vocals sure to send purist fans of the aforementioned bands hiding under their mother's skirt. It sure is fun to see these songs cranked up a notch in speed and a few notches in rawness. Call it a blue collar version? Very cool.

Side B is much messier. If not for the lyrics and a few passages here and there, I would have had a hard time recognizing the songs. I don't think I've ever heard "Black Metal" played this extreme - Deceased sped this one up quite a bit and it sounds like they're destroying the stage using the audience as jackhammers. Holy shit. As for Voivod, well... When I first heard this song some 21 years ago, it was the most extreme thing I had ever heard and I practically fell on my butt, and it's a good thing I didn't hear this version first or I would have fainted. :) Just like "Black Metal", the song is barely recognizable and played very fast and the whole thing is quite messy-sounding. I wonder if anyone came out alive of that show?

Interesting covers from Deceased that their fans should get a kick out of. The EP is limited to 300 black vinyl and 200 coloured vinyl copies, so don't procrastinate too much and go sell your little brother so you can buy a copy. ;)
