This is an interesting disc, fourth from this odd band, who are fronted by former Arch Enemy vocalist John Liiva. Having heard this was death rock I was not expecting much, but this is way more Death than rock. The major influence here seems to be mid-period Entombed, mostly the Hollowman/Wolverine Blues era. The guitars are nice and heavy, with some punishing, groovy riffs and some really good leads. Liiva's vocals are a ringer for LG Petrov's, and the songs as a whole are good. There is a bit more of a rock vibe to this in places, but not to the point of distraction. I like this disc, even if it's not really my kind of thing. |
