Seems like not that long ago, I got their debut Diadem of 12 Stars to review. I remember being disappointed by the fact that the info sheet mentioned something like: "folk/black metal", which turned out to be in fact, just a few acoustic breaks. Two Hunters is the next logical step in their artistic evolution. Four tracks, with the shortest clocking in at 5:58, up to the closer long lasting pleasure, at over 18 minutes. Opener Dia Artio, is a slow and epic instrumental made of samplings/ electronics and orchestral keyboards. This is followed by Behold the Vastness and Sorrow, where one can relate to their previous work with a fast and furious black metal structure, still offering some breaks with tremolo pickings. Then comes something new and refreshing from The Wolves: female vocals courtesy of Jessica Kinney. The intro is pretty reminiscent to Yes, with keyboards and the high pitch vocals. The rest though is back to its source with varied paces. I guess this leaves me with the closing, long lasting pleasure, I will Lay Down My Bones Among the Rocks and Roots. Clean arpeggios with keys as intro, varied tempos, psychedelic guitars, pounding percussions, spacey keys, possibly some acoustic guitars or extremely clean guitar work, more nice female vocals and so on, all of which ending with birds singing!

As they refine their sound, Wolves in the Throne Room define their style. As they say, the best is yet to come. Two Hunters is an enjoyable opus of US black metal.
