Atrophy's second and last album follows in the very same track as "Socialized Hate" - socially conscious "clean Thrash" that is not too adventurous or experimental. This time they pushed the lyrical writing a bit further, with more elaborate/longer lyrics than on their debut. The basic Thrash elements are the same here, but there are a few twists - more melody (while keeping the aggressiveness intact - not always a small feat) and more fast passages are at the rendez-vous on this album, along with a richer production that provides for a better enjoyment of the music than on the first album. Of course the band's playing has matured, but they've done so while retaining the little raw, basic playing style of the debut. Other than that, pretty much all I said when I reviewed "Socialized Hate" remains true here - catchy, straightforward Thrash is the name of the game, complete with a solo fest that'll tease the guitar hero in you. If you liked the debut, you'll most likely like what you hear here. Personally I'm having a hard time picking on over the other. Good stuff. Additional Information Originally released by Roadrunner Records. |
