As much as I love Darkthrone, there's nothing really exciting to be found on this dodgy bootleg CD. In fact I'd wager that even the most crazed collectors of Darkthrone memorabilia wouldn't garner much enjoyment from this.

Basically, this release includes three gigs (one from 1996, and two from the early nineties). This would be all well and good if it was a good quality recording, but the general sound is pretty bad - even for a bootleg. Also, if I'm not mistaken these gigs have actually been released officially recently on DVD on the 3 disc edition of the Darkthrone compilation "Preparing for War" (making this bootleg even less essential, as the DVD would be infinitely more enjoyable, as at least you can visually see the band playing). There are a couple of unreleased tracks that they tested in the live situation, but they're hardly worthwhile, sounding somewhat like poor off-cuts from the "Goatlord" sessions.

All in all, if it wasn't for the fact that you didn't already know all the songs inside out, this would be a completely pointless release, so you're better off sticking to the original recordings. Either that or check out the aforementioned "Preparing for War" compilation instead.
