After a three and a half year wait, Stormwarrior's third full-length album has finally arrived. They continue the tradition of speedy Power Metal in the old German style. A riff here and there borders on all-outTthrash, and sometimes there is a bit of the vague European Power Metal sound. But the album is largely pure Speed Metal.

If you've heard previous releases from the band, you'll know mostly what to expect. This release is probably just a tad less hyper than the last two. It was an understandable decision to tone down the non-stop bombast of the last two album. This decision to pace themselves worked in their favor, and the album has more variety than before. Not anything remarkably varied, but it's a refreshing change.

Fortunately, Stormwarrior is the kind of band that you listen for drinking mead and doing battle. Not for genre-bending and profound subject matter. That doesn't mean this album is lacking - it knows what it is, and it doesn't try to be anything else. And that's perfectly fine by me.

Speedy melodic riffs, classic German Speed Metal vocals, pummeling drums, catchy choruses, and a bit more of a lean toward an "epic" sound. There isn't much not to like. After multiple listens, these songs won't leave my head. "Iron Gods", and "Remember the Oathe" are particularly addictive songs that I just can't stop listening to.

Like fast melodic old school metal? Get this.
